The Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa and the City of Ottawa are teaming up with community partners to house 100 people experiencing homelessness before the end of September.
The Housing Blitz will help landlords quickly fill vacancies with tenants who are on low income and are currently looking for housing. Tenants may be eligible to receive a monthly housing benefit to pay rent and purchase tenant insurance, new furniture and household items.
The monthly housing benefit may be deposited directly into your bank account, with the tenant’s consent. Some tenants also receive other kinds of support like weekly visits from a housing worker.
Our team provides you with the prospective tenants, arranges for viewings and helps with documentation, and lease signing etc. As the landlord, you have final say as to who rents your units. All tenants will be required to sign a lease with you.
We ask that you hold the unit for 2 days and then either a City of Ottawa Caseworker or the prospective tenant will follow up in that time.
